Odilia "The Voidsword"
Odilia is attractive and there is no shortage of attention from the boys, but she is not delicate in any way. She is battle ready at all times, and her frame is a corded muscle of honed skill.
Odilia grew up in a small town north of Baldur’s Gate called Daggerford. Daggerford is a town that lay along the Shining River on the Sword Coast in the Western Heartland. It is a walled town with a population of approximately 900, with a number of outlying hamlets, farms, and estates bringing the population to over 2,000. The town is strategically placed along the Trade Way and fortified by the local duke’s dwarven-built castle. It is primarily a farming community, but a desire to grow and be seen as an alternative to the northern city Waterdeep caused the town to actively seek craftsmen and artisans. Its streets are unpaved and the buildings are ramshackle in appearance. Odilia’s Uncle, Reese Glenn, was given custody of her when her mother and father died tragically in a storm off the Sword Coast. At first, Reese was reluctant to take Odilia, but his love for her and his sister, Odilia’s mother, left him with little choice in the matter. Uncle Reese was a moderately famous weaponsmith from the wondrous city of Waterdeep. The small town of Daggerford petitioned him to move, and they moved shortly after. Odilia was a very small child when they moved to Daggerford. She was raised in a forge and never knew what little girls were supposed to play with or how to dress. She was playing with daggers and short swords by age five, not dressing dolls and playing princess. The majority of Daggerford and its traders thought she was a rambunctious boy. She would play in the square, zig-zagging through the stalls and sod houses—stealing apples and making mischief wherever she went. She and Uncle Reese were perfectly happy in Daggerford.
Odilia was very quick to learn to read and write. She didn’t want to be like the farmer children and not know what was going on in the town because she couldn’t read the postings, also she was a bit competitive and wanted to be first at everything. Odilia loved to write and read all the books at the tiny school in Daggerford. She was always looking for new books from the traders who came to town, and she loved Elven and Dwarven runes and learning the languages of the other races. Odilia was also becoming quite accomplished with a sword. She practiced with the town militia and was recognized by the Duke himself at a tournament during the Spring Festival. She won an engraved silver pin of the town militia. That was the beginning of her career as a fighter.
Odilia longed for a life of adventure, and her uncle knew she wouldn’t stay in the tiny town of Daggerford much passed her eighteenth summer. She was determined to join the famous Flaming Fists of Baldurs Gate, where she would vanquish dragons, become a renowned warrior, and uphold the law. She packed up her belongings and traveled south with a merchant caravan, which was fortunate for the merchants, because she took more than a small part in slaying a hunting party of Gnolls. Her skills didn’t go unnoticed with the Baldurian merchants, so she took a job as escort for the caravans for a few summers. The pay was excellent, and she finally got the adventure that was missing in her life. The Grand Duke, Eltan, accompanied the caravan to Waterdeep during Odilia’s 21st summer. He was fascinated with her prowess as a fighter and a little more impressed with her beauty. Eltan introduced her to his most trusted friend, Scar (Hurbold Duethkatha,) and the sparks flew between the two. They were fast friends and constant sparring partners. Odilia learned so much from him, and they later became lovers. Eight months after the caravan took Eltan to Waterdeep, she was a tested member of the Flaming Fists. Her ambitions were becoming reality, and she wouldn’t be stopped.
Odilia has worked up the ranks in the Flaming Fists with a focused effort. She is one of four Captains and commands the respect of all she encounters. The new recruits become aware very quickly that this blond beauty is not what she appears. There have been a handful of times that she has taught a wayward boy how to respect his commander. She has seen many battles and slain many foes and monsters along the road to glory.
